Chess Mastery Group Workshop

Service Description

The Manasota Chess Center is excited to announce a new offering in response to popular demand: the Chess Mastery Group Workshop. Designed for advanced beginners with ratings between 800-1200, this workshop builds on our popular sequential courses—Intro to Chess, Beyond the Basics, and Advancing Towards Mastery. Participants will engage in interactive discussions, game analysis, computer-based skill development, in-depth tutorials on platforms like chess.com and LiChess, and the study of grandmaster games, among other enriching activities. The class will be capped at 10 people. Pre-requisite Skills: If you know the following skills, this course is intended for you. If you do not know these key competencies, please reach out about taking a different course. * Know how the pieces move, including special moves like castling and en passant * Know check and checkmate * Know how to checkmate with queen and king, two rooks, one rook * Know basic tactical patterns (fork, pin, skewer) * Know about phases of the game: opening, middlegame, ending * Know basic endgame skills: opposition, pawn promotion

Cancellation Policy

To receive a refund for a canceled private lesson, please notify us at least 24 hours before the scheduled time. Lessons canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled time are non-refundable. Refunds are not offered for missed Intro to Chess classes, but videos of each class are uploaded to a secure site that you may access if you miss a class.
